TCODS - Tillamook County Outdoor School

Fall 2006!

Session #2, September 30 - October 6, 2006

Closing Comments by Sixth Grade Classes (Note that the closing comments are not available for every class!)

East School -Lightning (Melissa Yungen)'s Class - (I found these comments in my materials after camp. I'm not completely sure that they are from Lightning's class, but I think they are.)

Outdoor School was awesome! We loved everything! We had a blast playing on the beach, singing songs at campfire and being with our counselors. Our counselors were the best. They were fun, and they cared about us. We will never forget them.

At field studies we learned that everything interacts with everything else. Decisions that we make affect many other things along the chain.

The food was great! We especially liked the breakfasts and the formal dinner. Thank you to all the cooks for al your hard work.

We also want to thank Moses, the YO! staff, Gemini, the grandparents, the RADD staff, Nurse Mercy and the counselors for all your love this week. Because of outdoor School we want to make our school and Tillamook a better place.

East School -OOPS! (Deanna Upton)'s Class -

Exciting, awesome, totally radical, fantabulous, hypnotizing! These are only a few of the words we decided described our time at Outdoor School. We really liked all the activities, especially recreation. The best part was that we were able to use up our energy laughing and playing, the things we don't get as much time to do at school.

The things we will remember the most are:

Our class really wants to thank the counselors. They modeled lifelong lessons for us. They were always happy, cheerful, nice, empathetic, helping and honest, all things we were struggling with as a class before we arrived here. Last week our class could not come together as one. We were fighting and accusing one another of various things and overall generally hating school and each other. This week we have worked together to overcome all of this and come together as one. We met the goals we set for ourselves. We have come together as one, and now, as Brock would say it, "We need to stick together, no matter what."

We are taking so many life lessons with us. You have taught us that we are a good group. We came to you a broken and unhappy class. We leave as one, knowing we all have true friends. Love built a bridge for us. Thank you!

East School -Yogi (Bruce Cardin)'sClass -

Camp impressed all of us. It was a fun time, and we made new friends or got to know others better. Our cabin groups learned to work together to work as a team.

Moses showed us that work can be fun by banging on dishes that were being taken to the dish room. Our cabins were bigger than we thought. The food was very good, and we thank the cooks. We always had planty of food. We also would like to say thanks to all the counselors.

The counselors were funny and made camp great. They gave us hugs and helped us in our classes and recreation. Many of us got to do new activities for the first time like boating and archery.

Our time at camp will be a memory we remember. The most important thing we learned is that we need to be nicer to each other and stick up for those that need help.
